Cairo: Omani authorities have evacuated a hospital in the southern governorate of Dhofar due to an approaching tropical depression, Omani news agency ONA reported Friday.

The Sadh Hospital was evacuated and all equipment and medical supplies were transferred to safe places, ONA added.

The tropical depression is expected to move towards the coast of Dhofar and is likely to intensify further and cross the coast in the coming hours, Oman's Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said Friday.

It added that the depression is about 100 kilometres from Salalah, the capital of Dhofar.

The PACA has advised the public to take precautions and shun low areas, crossing of wadis and the sea during heavy rainfall.
