Dubai: Customs officials have foiled an attempt to smuggle over 1,500 kg of heroin, local media reported.

A statement issued by Oman Customs said, “The General Administration of Customs has foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,765 kilograms of heroin, which were professionally hidden inside a postal package for vehicle spare parts.”

Omani customs have also raided a site housing expatriates and seized more than 20,000 bottles of alcoholic beverages in North Al Batinah governorate. According to the authority’s statement, the Department of Investigation and Risk Assessment raided a site for expatriate workers in North Al Batinah Governorate, and seized more than 20,000 bottles of alcoholic beverages.
