Muscat: Oman’s Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for Muscat Governorate confirmed there was no truth to what is being circulated through social media platforms about change in the previously announced immunisation centres. DGHS had issued a notice mentioning the names of centres where the vaccination shots are being administered, announcing the vaccination centres are open since June 6 for those who have already been given the first shot and have completed 10 weeks of waiting time.

Many citizens responded to the DGHS’s Twitter feed by asking when the vaccination will be open for those who have been waiting for their first shot. A previous announcement had mentioned that all those above 45 years of age would get their first jab in June. Private organisations, clinics and even social community clubs joined the fray in the campaign to speed up the vaccination drive by registering their staff, dependents and community members.

Rajhi Al Balushi a resident of Muscat said that the vaccination is still going on for 12th graders and the support staff in Education field, in addition to those whose second shots were due. “I am 50 and many in my locality are wondering when they will get the first dose as COVID-19 cases fluctuate.”
