Muscat: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) took part in ‘Thunder Wessex II’, the joint tactical exercise with the British Forces, at British Salisbury.

The 23rd Infantry Brigade supported by the Sultan of Oman Artillery and the Sultan’s Armed Forces Engineering took part in the exercise as part of the training plan pursued by the Royal Army of Oman to increase performance and efficiency, according to an Oman News Agency (ONA) report on Monday.

The exercise, the report says, showed the efficiency and potentials of RAO in various conditions and terrain which clearly reflects the level of training and rehabilitation of various brigades and formations of the RAO.

Brigadier Hamad Bin Rashid Al Balushi, Commander of the 23rd Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Salim Bin Khamis Al Salhi, Commander of the Sultan’s Armed Forces Engineering and a number of RAO senior officers visited the site and watched the various stages of the exercise.

The outside exercises conducted by RAO with friendly states are part of RAO’s training plans for its personnel, which is keen to participate to achieve the objectives and to exchange operational experiences, the report said.
