Cairo: Oman’s Ministry of Labour has exposed dozens of cases involving bogus employment of citizens at private sector institutions as the country seeks to create jobs for its nationals.

The Sultanate’s Ministry of Labour said it has uncovered the unlawful practice manipulated to take advantage of facilities offered by the state to encourage private sector to employ Omanis.

The ministry added on its Twitter that it has exposed 180 cases of fake employment of Omani manpower that illegally allowed the issuance of 660 permits for recruiting non-Omanis to work at private sector institutions.

No further details were provided about the illegal cases, or the offenders.

The ministry urged all the private sector enterprises to join hands in limiting this phenomenon which it said negatively affects this sector and the national economy.

It also called on Omani employees in the private sector to avoid involvement in such practices to protect their rights and those of others.
