Cairo: Oman said today that its overall infections of the coronavirus have climbed to 97,450, an increase of 1,543 cases against the country’s last tally announced on Thursday.

The Omani Health Ministry put the country’s total deaths from COVID-19 at 909, showing 24 more fatalities since Thursday.

The total recoveries in the sultanate has reached 87,801, or 90 per cent, the ministry said, according to the Omani news agency ONA.

Like other Gulf countries, Oman has recently eased virus-related restrictions.

In mid-August, the Sultanate lifted a ban on night-time movement that was imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19. Oman is due to resume regular international flights on October 1.
