Muscat: The drive through PCR testing facility available at Muscat International Airport (MIA) which started its operations since 1 October and has been getting popular due to the rate and quick availability of reports has announced new parking fees.
The P5 parking slot that has been converted as the drive-through PCR testing facility at the MIA will be metered after the first two hours. The long-term parking fare will be applied to everyone parking at P5 and exceeding two hours at the PCR testing centre.
The facility is signposted widely and can be easily located at the Muscat International Airport’s parking lot. The registration and test cost RO 19 and the test results are available in 24 hours, through an SMS or an email. The printing of the report that was suspended for a brief period due to a technical snag has resumed again. For the arriving passengers, a PCR testing facility is available inside the airport itself.
Exempt from test
All travellers arriving into Oman from any destination will be required to undergo a PCR test after clearing immigration and prior to baggage collection. The registration and PCR test fee is RO 25 for the passengers arriving into Oman. Travellers are advised to download the Tarassud+ and HMushrif applications before arriving into the country and complete their registration through the following link: https://covid19.moh.gov.om/#/traveler-reg. This helps avoid the long queues for registration at the airport. Children under the age of 15 are exempt from the PCR test.
Diplomats and their families are exempt from wearing a tracking bracelet only, however they are required take the test and remain in quarantine for 14-days if they are staying for more than 7 days.
Airplane crew members are exempt from quarantine but they have to follow the mandatory measures as issued by the Ministry of Health for airplane crew members.
