Burst water pipe kills worker in Oman

It took rescue workers more than three hours to retrieve his body after the trench he was working in collapsed over him

Muscat: An expatriate worker was killed after a burst water pipe caused a trench he was working in to collapse on him in Ibra province, in east Oman, on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred when workers at a construction company in Ibra accidentally struck the water pipe with heavy digging equipment.

It took personnel at the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) more than three hours to recover his body.

The PACDA have yet to release the name and nationality of the victim.

Last Saturday, three workers died and one is currently battling for life in the hospital after they fell from the top of a building under construction in the Ma’bala area of Seeb province in the Muscat governorate.
