Muscat: Oman celebrated Royal Oman Police (ROP) Day on January 5 with private and government organisations as well as several ministries sharing messages appreciating the crucial role played by the police force in Oman.
While most of the population were aware of the efficient functioning of the police force in Oman, the recent pandemic time had further raised the awareness among general public on the major role played by the ROP. The regular patrolling of Oman’s roads during lockdown put them at the forefront of those fighting the virus.
Government Communication Centre, an arm of Ministry of Information, greeted the ROP force on the special day saying that the police force devoted their energies in preserving the achievements of the Renaissance and proved highly efficient during the pandemic.
Soumitra Sen, an entrepreneur and resident of Oman for the past two decades, saluted the work of the police, especially during the scorching summer months. “I used to drive twice weekly from Al Khuwair to Ruwi, with the necessary permissions that were the norm then. The police personnel stationed at the check points, at all given times, would patiently answer the queries and guide the people politely. My respect to them grew multifold after seeing their relentless efforts during the pandemic time.”
Raya Al Balushi, who works at the Muscat International Airport, said that her brothers want to join the police force after seeing their uncle who is working with the police.
Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, in his tweet greeted and thanked all members of ROP in their role in serving the country and ensuring its security.
