Emir of Kuwait arrives

Abu Dhabi: The Emir of Kuwait, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, arrived here in Abu Dhabi heading the Kuwaiti delegation participating in 31st GCC summit which will start later at the Emirates Palace.

UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan led a group of high-level officials to welcome the Kuwaiti Emir and the accompanying delegation at the airport.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, GCC Secretary-General, and a number of senior officials were present.

The Kuwaiti Emir is accompanied by an honorary mission headed by UAE Minister of State Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi.

Shaikh Sabah is accompanied by senior officials, including Shaikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.

Emir of Qatar arrives

Emir of Qatar Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani has expressed hopes that the 31st Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council would further promote the Council's efforts to realise the aspirations of the peoples of the member states for more progress and prosperity and a higher stature.

In a statement upon arrival in Abu Dhabi to take part in the summit, Shaikh Hamad greeted President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the leaders of other GCC member states and the people of the UAE and expressed his best wishes of more progress and prosperity for all Arab and Muslim countries.

"I pray the God Almighty to guide and aid us to serve interests of our peoples and Arab and Islamic nations," he said.

Earlier Shaikh Hamad arrived leading his country's delegation to the summit which starts later at the Emirates Palace.

Shaikh Khalifa led a group of high-level officials to welcome Shaikh Hamad upon arrival at the Emiri terminal.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, GCC Secretary-General, Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Othman, Qatari Ambassador to UAE, and Salim Al Za'abi, UAE Charge d' Affaires in Qatar, were also at hand to receive the Qatari leader who arrived along with a number of top officials, including Shaikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jabr Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The Emir of Qatar is accompanied by an honorary mission headed by Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

Shaikh Hamad said he was delighted at meeting his fellow GCC leaders in Abu Dhabi and expressed best wishes for President Shaikh Khalifa and more progress and prosperity for the UAE people.

Oman affirms full support to GCC efforts

Fahd Bin Mahmoud Al Syed, Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs and head of the Omani delegation, has affirmed Oman's full support to the efforts by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to further coordination and promote cooperation among member states.

"The outlook for the Council's joint action, in light of the current regional and international developments, mandates consolidation of all good efforts to improve performance, carry out agreed programmes and remove any barriers to the implementation of the targeted policies," the senior Omani official who represents Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed of Oman at the summit said in a statement upon arrival in Abu Dhabi.

The Omani Deputy Prime Minister is accompanied by an honorary mission headed by UAE Minister of Justice Dr. Hadef Jowan Al Dhahiri.

The Omani delegation also includes Foreign Minister Yousuf Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah, along with a number of senior officials.
