Dubai: Seven flights from Egypt carrying almost 600 passengers were cancelled creating a huge confusion and agony among passengers arriving from Egypt, Kuwaiti local media reported on Saturday.

The cancellation of flights was made in accordance with new directives from Kuwait’s Directorate General of the Civil Aviation (DGCA).

A flight from Lebanon was also cancelled abruptly and passengers were left stranded in confusion at the new directive banning flights from 31 countries and their residents.

Passengers had completed their PCR tests and were ready to fly to Kuwait when a new directive was issued late yesterday creating disappointment for passengers who had been stranded in their home countries for several months.

Kuwait is only partially opening its air space and all protocols were in place to receive almost 10,000 passengers every day as part of the gradual opening of the country. Thousands of residents are flying in to resume work after several months of lockdown.
