Dubai: A well-known Kuwaiti lawyer has been arrested on charges of drug possession following a raid on his office in the Bneid Al Gar area in the capital, local media reported.

The 33-year-old legal professional was apprehended in his office, where authorities discovered a variety of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

According to an official statement released by the Ministry of Interior via its account on the "X" platform, the confiscated items included 40 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of marijuana, 30 grams of hashish, and 300 psychotropic tablets.

Two sensitive digital scales — commonly used for drug weighing and distribution — were also seized during the inspection.

The arrest has triggered widespread controversy and debate in Kuwait’s legal and media communities, given the prominence of the lawyer involved.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to possessing the drugs and claimed that he had received them from a 20-year-old woman.

Authorities subsequently arrested the young woman, and a search uncovered additional drugs in her possession.

On questioning, she confessed to repeatedly supplying the lawyer with narcotics and stated that she obtained the substances from what she described as an "external network."

Both defendants, along with the confiscated materials, have been referred to the competent authorities for further investigation. The case has now been handed over to the Public Prosecution to proceed with legal action.
