Kuwaiti lawmakers against any dealings with Israel
Lawmakers rule out any form of contact with Tel Aviv
Manama: Five Kuwaiti lawmakers on Sunday filed a motion to reinforce a ban on dealing with Israel.
The motion stipulates that any contact under any form with Israel, be it direct or indirect, or through agreements, meetings or the promotion of business will carry a jail sentence of five years.
Lawmakers Ali Al Omair, Ahmad Al Mulaifi, Khalil Abdullah, Abdul Rahman Al Jiran and Abdullah Al Tamimi filed the motion, local news site Al Aan reported.
Kuwait, like fellow Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, does not have diplomatic relations with Israel.
Last month, the northern Arabian Gulf country reiterated its pledge to support the Palestinians during a visit by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to re-open the Palestinian embassy in Kuwait City after a 22-year-old diplomatic hiatus.
