Dubai: A Kuwaiti Criminal Court sentenced a Syrian blogger to three years in prison followed by deportation on charges of insulting Kuwait’s leadership and offending Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Tunisia on social media, as well as spreading false information.

The Public Prosecution referred the blogger to trial on state security-related charges, accusing him of using a pseudonymous account on the social media platform X to post offensive remarks targeting Gulf and Arab nations.

The blogger’s identity has not been disclosed. In Kuwait, criticising the emir is considered a constitutional violation punishable by up to five years in prison.
