Abu Dhabi: Kuwait’s play 'System Out of Order', the first virtual theatrical performance in the Arab world, entered the Guinness Book of Records, local media reported.

Al Qabas newspaper indicated that the play was shown remotely, and the number of tickets sold on May 25, Eid Al Fitr Day, reached 1,474, breaking the record for tickets sold in one day for an electronic comic show.

Kuwaiti entrepreneur Bader Nabeel Al Essa said the idea for a virtual theatrical performance came out of the coronavirus crisis. “We decided not to wait for support, but rather to be creative, and develop the idea of virtual lectures, and then the idea of a virtual theatrical performance,” he said.

Play-actor and director Mohammed Al Hamli, said the virtual play was the culmination of his artistic career.

“The lockdown was not an obstacle, because the workers on the show took the opportunity to create the first virtual theatrical show in the Arab world. This achievement is an incentive for Kuwaiti youth to get more creative,” Al Hamli said.
