Dubai: Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has decided to increase flights operated by airline companies in the countries where Kuwaiti citizens are stranded, Kuwait News Agency said on Wednesday.

Saad Al Otaibi, DGCA spokesperson, said the move was made after the Cabinet’s decision to allow the resumption of flights from and to Kuwait International Airport, as of Saturday, January 2.

He said the decision to increase flights aims to repatriate Kuwaiti citizens stranded abroad and facilitate their return after the suspension of flights last week due to the emergence of the new COVID-19 variant in some European countries.

The resumption of flights will begin on Saturday, at 4pm local time. However, all decisions might be amended according to coronavirus developments, Al Otaibi added.
