Kuwait City: The Kuwait Red Crescent launched their 'Iftar fasting' project, with the aim of distributing meals to 15,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan, local media reported.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to Jordan, Aziz Al Daihani, told Kuwait’s state media (KUNA) that the project is in cooperation with the Jordanian Red Crescent and will continue throughout Ramadan as they plan on distributing 500 meals a day.
Kuwaiti students studying at the College of Medicine in Jordan have volunteered to participate in the daily distribution program, which takes place at the Jordanian Red Crescent Centre in Balqa Governorate, he added.

Al Daihani stated that Kuwait is keen to alleviate the suffering of refugees and that the Kuwait Red Crescent have continued to provide humanitarian support to Syrian refugees in Jordan since the Syrian war broke out in 2011.
Kuwait has generously provided humanitarian and developmental aid to several UN agencies from UNICEF to UNHCR that are working on the ground to support Syrians across the region.
In 2013, Kuwait, under the direction of the last Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, donated the $110 million in support of Syrian refugees in neighboring Arab countries. The gesture amounted to the single largest donation by a Gulf country to UNHCR.
