Cairo: Kuwait has announced a summer-time ban on the operation of delivery motorbikes during peak heat hours to safeguard workers from extreme temperatures.

The Ministry of Interior stated that the ban will be enforced daily from 11am to 4pm, starting June 1 and continuing until the end of August. It applies to all roads across Kuwait, and authorities warned of strict penalties for violators.

Earlier this month, Kuwait’s Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) also imposed a broader ban on outdoor work during the same hours and months. The move is part of seasonal efforts to protect workers from heat-related illnesses, a common concern in Gulf nations during summer.

PAM said inspection teams would conduct surprise visits to ensure compliance. Initial violations will be met with a warning and a one-day grace period.

Repeat offenders face record suspension and financial penalties.

The outdoor work ban is an annual measure across several Arab Gulf countries, home to large populations of expatriate workers, as temperatures often exceed 50°C in peak summer.
