Manama: Kuwait’s interior ministry has denied reports that it used foreign securitymen to tackle the demonstrations.

“The reports posted and disseminated on social networks claiming that Kuwait’s security agencies enlisted the help of foreign forces to disperse gatherings and rallies are baseless and lacked credibility,” the interior ministry said in a statement.

“The Kuwaiti security agencies were in charge of dispersing the rioters and of putting an end to the acts of sabotage and violence. They were the ones who transferred those who broke the law to the competent authorities and there was no foreign force as claimed by those who incited violence and who will be identified and subsequently made to face legal measures,” the ministry said.

The ministry also denied claims posted on social microblogs that prisoners were rioting and staging sit-ins inside their prisons.

“The situation is stable and is under control and the services are smooth and in line with the rules and regulations,” the ministry said. “We are monitoring the misleading remarks and claims being posted on the internet and we will take legal action against them,” the ministry said.
