Kuwait City: During their weekly Monday meeting, the Kuwaiti Cabinet of Ministers announced that Kuwait will immediately be sending oxygen and relief aid to India to help relieve the suffering of the people there as new COVID-19 infections hit a record high for a fifth day in a row.
The press statement issued after the meeting stated that Kuwait stood in solidarity with friendly India, and expressed deep concern and regret over the worsening health situation.
Kuwait is amongst several countries that have rushed to India’s help as the country is grappling with a surge in COVID-19-related deaths. Footage from New Delhi, one of the worst affected cities, shows bodies being burnt in makeshift facilities offering mass cremations.
Countries across the world have vowed to send medical help as India’s hospitals are running out of beds and oxygen supplies.
Halt in flights
On Saturday, all flights between Kuwait and India were suspended until further notice.
The circular issued by the Kuwaiti Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated that the decision is implanted on all passengers traveling from India, including domestic workers
