The US Navy said yesterday its forces chased away two pirate boats following a distress call from a Kuwaiti fishing dhow in the northern Arabian Gulf.
The amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard received the call when a fishing boat was seized by a group of pirates, the ship's commanding officer Captain J Scott Jones said in a statement.
The US ship "made best speed in pursuit of the pirates, chasing them away from the group of dhows," he said.
