Dubai: Bahrain on Friday announced 29 new confirmed coronavirus cases in the Kingdom, pushing the total number of active cases to 286, Al Arabiya reported.
Of these new cases, 22 patients are Bahraini citizens who recently came back from Iran.
As of today, April 3, three of the total COVID-19 cases are in critical health condition while the rest are stable. A total of 37,996 people have been tested so far and some 382 patients have been discharged in addition to 4 deaths confirmed in the kingdom, according to the Ministry of Health.
Last month, Bahrain accused Iran of “biological aggression” by covering up the spread of the coronavirus and failing to stamp the passports of Bahraini travellers, Reuters reported.
Bahrain Ministry of Health evacuated 165 citizens from coronavirus-hit Iran last month, bringing them back to Bahrain on a chartered plane. Of the 165 people, 77 tested positive upon their arrival.
Bahrain was one of the first countries in the world to use Hydroxychloroquine to treat active coronavirus cases, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Head of the National Taskforce for Combating the coronavirus, Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said.
Hydroxychloroquine “is reported to have had a profound impact when used to treat the symptoms exhibit-ed by active COVID-19 cases,” state news agency BNA reported.
