Bahrain plans to recycle five tonnes of used paper
Manama: Bahrain plans to recycle five tonnes of used paper as part of an environmental project launched yesterday.
The project coordinator Mohammad Al Dashti said that the activities would mainly target youth by occupying their free time and helping them become more environmentally conscious.
Organised by Bahrain Centre for Volunteers and the General Organisation for Youth and Sports, the two-week project will see the participation of 80 youth who would be involved in collecting, cutting and grinding used papers. The paste will be given to factories to recycle.
"Government and private organisations have been contacted to provide their used papers and were urged to cut the usage of papers," Al Dashti said.
He said that all individuals and organisations involved in the project as well as those who would give away papers would be honoured. Al Dashti called upon the public to participate in the project that will help in the reduction of waste being dumped daily at the landfill.
