Manama: Authorities have mounted a search in Bahrain and Egypt for a 16-year-old Bahraini girl who disappeared in Cairo under mysterious circumstances.
The girl's father, who has issued passionate appeals to the Bahraini interior and foreign ministers for help, said he and his family had travelled to Cairo to spend their holiday with relatives.
On Tuesday, at around 11 pm, the girl left the house to visit friends who lived just a few metres away in the same street, the father told Bahraini daily Akhbar Al Khaleej.
When she failed to return after an hour and a half, the family started to worry and began searching the neighbourhood. However nobody reported seeing the girl in the vicinity.
Bahrain's consulate, alerted the next day about the disappearance, is now working with authorities in Egypt to search for the teenager.
