A total of 447 people took the swine flu vaccine in the first three days, the health ministry said.
Manama: A total of 447 people took the swine flu vaccine in the first three days, the health ministry said.
“The shots are available for would-be pilgrims and medical staff this week while private and public school students will be given the shot next week,” Mariam Al Jalahma, the health ministry assistant undersecretary for health care, said on Tuesday. “Students will need an approval from their parents,” she said. Taking the shot will be optional for would-be pilgrims.
Health Minister Dr Faysal Al Hamer was the first Bahraini to get vaccine on Saturday. The minister said that he wanted to set the example to help assure people that the shot had no dangerous side effect and that they should take it to help combat its spread.
Six people, one Filipina, one Bangladeshi and four Bahrainis, have died in the country since the outbreak of the disease in May.
