Dubai: On Friday night, Danish youth paid tribute to the Jasmine Revolution with a peaceful demonstration through the streets of Copenhagen.

Defying the prevailing cold weather, young marchers showed their solidarity with North African and Middle Eastern protesters.

Kasper and Andreas, both 21, spoke to Gulf News after attending the march to empathise with the Arab quest for freedom and political rights. Both acknowledged being in "awe over the bravery and determination" the Arab protesters had displayed.

Andreas said: "It's incredible to see them risk their lives for what they believe in. It truly warms our hearts to see them insist on their right to freedom."

Helle, 27, from Copenhagen, also attended the demonstration. "It would be nice if we could give them a little bit of hope by putting focus on their struggles. In that way others might also start giving them attention," she said.
