Kris' match-making zeal puts Aquino in a spot during Thai PM's visit
Manila: Kris Aquino nearly placed her brother President Benigno Aquino in an awkward situation recently when she tweeted that her brother and then visiting Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra would make a fine pair.
"Came from Malacañang [residential palace]. Lunch for Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. She's tall & slim & attractive! 44 years old, bagay for P-Noy! [she and P-Noy would look good together]," she said in her Twitter post on Thursday as the Thai leader made a brief six-hour visit to the Philippines.
President Aquino, 51, has never been married and his purported love life has been closely watched by the public and speculated on.
Twitter was abuzz with reactions to Kris' tweet. One post expressed concern that the comment — by a television show host — would get the country in a diplomatic row. "A very undiplomatic thing to say," says another.
