The tectonic-origin quake, occurred at about 6km from the surface

Manila: A strong earthquake has jolted the capital.
Seismologists of Phivolcs reported that the epicenter of the Magnitude 5.1 tremor was detected about 24km north of General Nakar town in Quezon Province.
The quake, which occurred at about 6km from the surface, was tectonic in origin.
The tremor struck on Tuesday (May 27), at about 12.17pm and was left in a wide area including Metro Manila and Calabarzon (the provinces of Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon) in addition to Pampanga, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija, among others.
Workers and residents evacuated buildings as the tremor hit the capital.
Employees of Malacañang, the presidential Palace, reported evacuated from office buildings while Senate staff also dashed for the door toward open spaces.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
