Police ordered to free boy held for alleged murder
Karachi: The Hyderabad bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) yesterday ordered the immediate release of a boy who was arrested last week for allegedly killing his father.
Eight-year-old Rano Kohli, a resident of the Umarkot district in the Sindh province and a member of the minority Hindu community, was arrested along with his mother on June 17 on the complaint of his half brother. The complainant charged the two of killing his father on June 10.
But yesterday, Justice Amir Hani Muslim of the SHC, during a surprise visit of the Hyderabad jail, ordered the police officials concerned to appear before the court today, said Allah Bachayo Soomro, a human rights lawyer.
