The trailer reportedly lost control due to slippery road conditions caused by rainfall
A high-speed trailer truck rammed into a bungalow in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 2 area of Karachi early Monday morning, leaving two people injured, Dawn reported citing Rescue 1122 officials.
The trailer reportedly lost control due to slippery road conditions caused by rainfall, veered off the road, and smashed into the residential property. The injured were identified as the truck’s driver and cleaner, both of whom sustained minor injuries and were rescued from the wreckage.
Rescue 1122’s Central Command and Control team swiftly launched a response operation upon receiving the emergency alert. An urban search and rescue team, two ambulances, and a disaster response vehicle were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza confirmed the rescue and said the injured duo received immediate medical attention before being shifted to hospital. "The residents of the bungalow are currently in Islamabad. The local police have contacted the property owners," DIG Raza told Dawn.
Initial investigations suggest the accident was triggered by the wet and slippery road surface. Authorities have launched a further probe to assess the full extent of the damage and determine whether safety violations were involved.
