Dubai: A tweet by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari calling Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan a ‘puppet’ on the occasion of the World Puppetry Day, has got him harsh backlash on social media.
Bilawal took to twitter and also shared a google image stating March 21 is World Puppetry Day. “Today is actually World Puppetry Day, congratulations Imran Khan,”
Bilawal said in his sarcastic tweet referring to Imran as a puppet of the army in Pakistan. It is not the first time that the young opposition leader has called Imran a ‘puppet’. He called him a puppet during a rally last year as well. Bilawal also sarcastically called him a ‘selected Prime Minister’ during the inaugural session of parliament after Imran Khan took oath as Prime Minister of Pakistan last year.
His tweet came a day after he and his father and former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zarari were grilled at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in three corruption cases. PPP supporters gathered outside Rawalpindi office of NAB also clashed with police
In his tweet, Bilawal criticised the federal government for still not releasing “peaceful” party workers from custody and not sacking ministers associated with banned outfits.
“Has the government removed federal ministers associated with banned outfits yet? No. Are peaceful, democratic, political workers of PPP still in custody? Yes.’, he tweeted.
The PPP chairman said his party had countered dictators and Generals such as Ziaul Haq and Pervez Musharraf. He said his party will counter this ‘puppet government’ as well.
In response to Bilawal’s tweet calling Imran a ‘puppet, social media users called him a ‘kiddo’. “Can’t quite believe you’ r the chairman of a political party,” tweeted Soraya Aziz.
