ISLAMABA: An inquiry committee probing claims and disclosures by the anchor of a private TV channel regarding the Zainab rape and murder case has ruled the claims to be false.

The committee which filed its report in the Supreme Court (SC), said all claims made by Dr Shahid Masood have proved to be false and concocted.

18 disclosures made by Dr Masood have been rejected by the inquiry committee. According to media reports, allegations levelled against Imran Ali stated that he was a member of a global mafia ring, that he had political affiliations, that he was holding 37 bank accounts, that he was involved in violent pornography, he was an active member of the VCP gang, that he had received foreign funding and that he was mentally ill have not been proven by Dr Masood.

According to the committee report Ali was a poor man and there was no evidence that he was having millions of rupees in his account. No proof was also available that the accused had links with influential persons.

Reports said that Dr Masood could not provide proof that the accused was enjoying the support of any federal minister. Allegations that the accused would be killed in a police encounter have also not been proven to be true.

Neither did the accused take pictures of Zainab nor did he upload it on the net before committing the crime, the committee noted.
