Dubai: Amongst the commotion of the Indian general election, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi once again caused controversy.

He shared a meme with actress Aishwarya Rai to comment on the elections.

As the whole of India and Indians across the world anxiously await Lok Sabha Elections 2019 results, Oberoi took the opportunity to take a dig at Rai, whom he has dated in the past.

Using his handle, @vivekoberoi, he wrote: “Haha! creative! No politics here... just life. Credits: @pavansingh1985.”

Along with an image of Oberoi and Rai together used to describe ‘exit poll’ results, the meme involved a picture of Rai with actor Salman Khan, used to describe ‘opinion poll’ results. It also used a picture of Rai’s daughter and husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan, to describe the ‘final’ election results.

However, netizens didn’t find the joke amusing and expressed their unhappiness towards the post.

User @sushantksay replied to Oberoi’s tweet and wrote: “This is in such poor taste... one’s personal life is not to be discussed here. Remember there are four individuals who are father/mother/brother/sister and everyone has moved on. Shame.”

Similarly, Twitter user and television celebrity @RiaRevealed posted: “What a shame @vivekoberoi you’re a father too. Imagine if someone someday does exactly the same thing to your daughter. How will you feel? Rather than being a good human being and condemning it, you are praising the person [whom Oberoi credited for making the meme]. This is sick. Didn’t expect u of all too stoop so low.”

In the early 2000’s, Rai and Oberoi made headlines that claimed they were together, however news of them splitting up emerged soon after.

Oberoi was recently in the headlines for staring in an Indian biographical film ‘the PM Narendra Modi’ that revolves around the Indian Prime Minister’s life.
