Attack left the victim VJ Babu (62) with two broken teeth
Dubai: When three old classmates met for a casual chat recently in Malom town, Kasargod district, Kerala, it turned ugly due to an five-decade old dispute that happened when they were in Class 4.
Two of them - Malothu Balakrishnan and Mathew Valiyaplackkal, attacked VJ Babu (62) leaving the latter with two broken teeth, according to local media.
The three of them were classmates in Malom's Natakkallu Aided School in Balal grama panchayat over 50 years ago.
During that time, Babu told the police that Balakrishnan had once beaten him long back when they were in Class 4.
Despite this incident, the trio were in touch and maintained friendly relations.
So when the trio met again near a hotel an argument broke and the old issue resurfaced leading to the the fight.
During the fight, Balakrishnan held Babu down while Mathew hit him on the face and body with a stone, police told the local media.
While the duo were arrested, Babu was taken to Government Medical College in Kannur's Pariyaram.
The accused have been booked under Sections 126 (2), 118 (1), and 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), for charges including wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt and common intention.
Police also added that Babu was willing to settle the case out of court if the accused paid him Rs150,000.
