Vizianagaram: In a move to promote population growth and women’s empowerment, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Kalisetti Appalanaidu has announced a unique incentive programme for women who give birth to a third child.

According to the offer, women who have a third child — a girl — will receive Rs50,000 from the MP’s salary, while those who give birth to a boy will receive a cow.

The announcement, made at a meeting in Vizianagaram on International Women’s Day, has garnered widespread praise, especially in Appalanaidu’s native mandal of Ranasthalam.

His initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s call for steps to encourage population growth.

Naidu also announced that women employees will now receive maternity leave for all child deliveries, regardless of the number, signalling strong support for family growth and women in the workforce.

The incentives have sparked significant social media attention, with many applauding the MP’s efforts to empower women and promote population growth in the state.
