Kathmandu: An Indian passenger bus with at least 40 people onboard plunged into a river in Nepal's Tanahun district early on Friday, according to a spokesperson for Nepal's Armed Police Force.

Asian News International (ANI) reported that Kumar Neupane, the spokesperson for the Armed Police Force in Nepal, stated that 14 bodies have been retrieved from the river.

Deepkumar Raya, a senior police officer, informed ANI by phone that the bus involved in the accident, which had a license plate from the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is now lying on the bank of the river. The bus was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu when the mishap occurred, he added.
