First flight with 110 citizens thanks Govt, Embassy for safe Iran evacuation.
As part of Operation Sindhu, 110 Indian nationals, including students, were evacuated from war-torn Iran on IndiGo flight 6E 9487, which landed in Delhi. After a 12-hour wait at the airport, the Jammu and Kashmir government provided a bus to transport the students home.
One evacuee expressed deep gratitude, saying, “It felt like seeing my mother” when the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Iran stepped in. He thanked the Government of India for their support and hoped that the remaining Indian citizens still in Iran would also be evacuated soon, Inshallah.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, welcomed the evacuated students at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, IANS reported on Thursday.
India launched Operation Sindhu, a mission aimed at ensuring the safety and evacuation of Indian nationals from Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Wednesday evening that Indian students residing in Tehran were safely evacuated from the city through coordination by the Indian Embassy.
"Indian students in Tehran have been moved out of the city for safety reasons through arrangements made by the Indian Embassy," the Ministry said in their official statement.
