The following is the chronology of events in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts case, in which the trial court gave its verdict:
July 11, 2006: Seven high-explosive bombs explode on Mumbai suburban trains, killing 188 people and injuring more than 800 people.
July 20, 2006 to October 3, 2006: Anti Terrorism Squad arrests 13 accused in connection with the serial blasts.
November 30, 2006: Chargesheet filed against 30 accused, including 13 Pakistani nationals who had fled and remain at large.
2007: Trial begins.
February, 2008: Supreme Court stays trial.
April 23, 2010: Supreme Court vacates stay on trial.
August 19, 2014: Trial in the train blasts case ends.
September 11, 2015 :- Mumbai’s special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court convicts 12 out of the 13 arrested accused in the case.
September 30: Trial court sentences accused. Delivering the verdict, Special MCOCA Judge Yatin D, Shinde ordered capital punishment sentences on Kamal Ahamed Ansari (37), Mohammad Faisal Shaikh (36), Ehtesham Siddiqui (30), Naveed Hussain Khan (30) and Asif Khan (38).
Another seven people found guilty of involvement in the attacks in India’s financial capital were sentenced to life imprisonment: Tanvir Ahmad Ansari (37), Mohammad Majid Shafi (32), Shaikh Alam Shaikh (41), Mohammadd Sajid Ansari (34), Muzzammil Shaikh (27), Soheil Mahmood Shaikh (43) and Zamir Ahmad Shaikh (36).
