Thiruvananthapuram: Popular Malayalam cine actor, Sreenivasan has hit out at the leaderships of political parties for allegedly taking their followers for a ride and creating martyrs out of them.
Sreenivasan said it was a fact that “it was only in the homes of ordinary party workers that there are mothers who lost their children, and widows”.
“In the homes of party leaders, there are no widows or orphaned children”, Sreenivasan said while participating in a book release function in Thrissur.
Criticising the political leaderships of various parties, the actor said “people are fed up with the politics of murder. Martyrdom of followers is a strategy of political leaders to grab money and power”, he said.
Sreenivasan said a few political parties were behind the politics of murder, adding that “Keralites have become fed up with this kind of politics that creates martyrs.”
He said political parties were hoping that advertisement flex boards showing the photos of martyrs will build support for the parties. “Such boards always portray the photos of ordinary followers of the party; those who are given up for murders by their leaders”, he said.
Sreenivasan pointed out that the leaders of different political parties were good friends in private and advised party workers that the loss would be suffered by the followers, and not leaders.
