All passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported
An IndiGo flight from Chandigarh made an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Tuesday following a bomb threat, police confirmed Wednesday.
The threat was received via a call to the airport’s hotline around 2:32 PM, prompting air traffic control to declare a full emergency for IndiGo flight 6E-6382, airport sources said. The flight landed safely at 2:57 PM and was immediately moved to an isolation bay for security checks.
A thorough search was conducted by security personnel, but no suspicious items were found onboard, officials said. All passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
IndiGo acknowledged the incident and said all standard safety protocols were followed. “The safety of our customers is our highest priority,” the airline said in a statement, thanking passengers for their patience and cooperation.
Flight disruptions across Northern India
The bomb scare came amid widespread flight disruptions in northern India. IndiGo earlier issued alerts regarding delays and cancellations for flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, and later Bikaner. The airline cited evolving airspace conditions, widely seen as linked to regional tensions, as the reason for the suspensions.
