A local news source reported that when Shankaraiah returned home, he noticed his son lying unconscious with a bleeding wrist. Mamatha was not in the house. He took the injured child to a hospital in the vicinity and asked his employee, Vikas Goud, to look for Mamatha. He returned home at around 11pm after admitting Riyansh in the hospital. He went to the terrace and found Mamatha sitting near the water tank. As he called her, she stood up and jumped off from the terrace, which led to her immediate death. Later his son also died in the hospital.
Talking to Times Of India, a news channel in India, LB Nagar police inspector Ashok Reddy said: "The boy was suffering from eyesight-related problems. Shankaraiah spent over Rs200,00,00 (Dh98,270) for medical treatment of his son, but there was no improvement."
The inspector also stated that the mental growth of the child also suffered, which left his parents traumatised.
