A four-year-old girl from the Indian state of Mizoram became an overnight internet celebrity in India after her cover of Indian music composer AR Rahman's song Maa Tujhe Salam went viral this weekend. Even Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is a fan of the preschooler named Esther Hnamte from Lunglei district of Mizoram, who won many hearts on social media with her voice and cuteness.
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, who was impressed with the little girl, took to his verified Twitter handle on October 30 to share the video.
Praising Hnamte for her version of the song, Zoramthanga wrote on Twitter: "Mesmerizing Esther Hnamte, a 4-year-old kid from Lunglei, Mizoram singing Maa Tujhe Salaam, Vande Mataram."
The music video features Esther holding the Indian national flag in her hands as she sings the song, while the video features different parts of the north-eastern state.
As the video went viral, the Grammy and Academy Award-winning musician, AR Rahman, also noticed it. He (@arrahman) retweeted the video and wrote: “When you are showered with cuteness and love…”
The video also caught the eye of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who retweeted the Mizoram chief minister's tweet and wrote: "Adorable and admirable! Proud of Esther Hnamte for this rendition."
According to an East Mojo report, Esther has two siblings and she is the youngest child of Lalrinenga Hnamte and R Lalawmpui. Her mother said that Esther has not understood her new-found popularity.
