Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped and set on fire in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The accused in the case has been arrested and the victim has been referred to higher secondary hospital for treatment, police said.

"It was alleged that the girl was raped and set blaze after sprinkling kerosene on her. On her parent's complaint, a case was registered. The accused has been arrested. He was charged with Section 376, 307 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)," Senior Superintendent of Police Alok Kumar Jaiswal told ANI.

He said that the girl has suffered 80 per cent burn injuries.
