The Indian diaspora loves to go shopping for brands that resonate with them back in India. Therefore, strong and traditional brands like Gits, Mother’s Recipe, Britannia, Amul, Bikaji, Fortune, etc., are our best sellers. In terms of new preferences, there’s been an increase in consumer preference for healthier options. Hence, we have seen an upsurge in organic foods from India. Choithrams stocks 24 Mantra Organic products that are very popular among shoppers looking for healthier options.
Indian food industry is fast evolving – what are the major changes shaping the sector? What are your growth forecasts for the sector?
The manufacturers and brand owners in India currently have a better understanding of the needs of consumers in the UAE. This growth could amount to anything between 10-15 per cent of the overall imports.
We have seen an increase in interest for Indian food products across our multicultural consumers. We have introduced themed promotions where we promote a variety of Indian food products to all our consumers across all categories from fresh fruit and vegetables to daily pantry needs and even non-food products.
Yes, we are offering many items at special prices across our stores and online to celebrate this occasion. On behalf of Choithrams, we take this opportunity to wish the Indian community a Happy 75th Independence Day!
