Dubai: An Indian national allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger aboard an Air India flight from Delhi to Bangkok on Tuesday, according to sources.

Air India confirmed an incident of unruly passenger behavior on flight AI 2336, though it did not specify the nature of the misconduct in its official statement. Sources said the intoxicated passenger urinated on the managing director of a company during the flight.

The airline said it reported the matter to relevant authorities and offered assistance to the aggrieved passenger upon landing in Bangkok. However, the passenger declined the offer, Air India noted.

India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, responded to the incident, telling ANI that the ministry is taking note and will speak with the airline.

“Whenever these kinds of incidents happen, the ministry takes note. They will speak to the airline, and if there is any wrongdoing, we will take necessary action,” he said.

Air India stated that the crew followed standard operating procedures laid down by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The airline also confirmed that the standing independent committee will be convened to assess the incident and determine possible action against the passenger.

“In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered to assist the aggrieved passenger in filing a grievance with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time,” Air India said.

This is the latest in a string of similar incidents involving intoxicated passengers urinating on fellow travelers. In March 2023, Arya Vohra, an Indian student at a U.S. university, was banned by American Airlines after allegedly urinating on a co-passenger. In another case in November 2024, a drunk man allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in the business class of an Air India flight.
