Speculation rife that reports about New York nuptials may be a decoy
Washington: The 500 guests invited to Chelsea Clinton's wedding should finally learn its location this week, less than a week before the American society event of the summer.
The only daughter of the former US president and current secretary of state is to get married next weekend. It has been widely reported that the nuptials will take place on an estate in upstate New York. But speculation is rife that this may be a ‘decoy' — leaked to divert attention from the real venue which could be in Martha's Vineyard off Cape Cod.
The guest list is reported to include Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, Ted Turner, Steven Spielberg and Sir John Major. President Barack Obama was invited but the White House is not expecting him to attend.
The event is expected to cost up to $2 million (Dh7.34 million). Miss Clinton, 30, is marrying Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker and son of two former politicians.
Leaks have suggested that the wedding will be at Astor Courts, near Rhinebeck, an estate owned by a Clinton donor.
