DUBAI: Fitness enthusiasts in the UAE chose yoga and pilates over hardcore training during Ramadan, according to a study by fitness app GuavaPass.

“Bookings for yoga classes have increased by 68 per cent while those for weight training have fallen by 43 per cent since Ramadan,” said Mehak Nanda, relationship manager at GuavaPass. Nanda said this could be because those fasting find yoga and pilates easier compared to fitness regimes which require high intensity training.

Users booked an average of 3.5 workouts per week, with bookings for stretching and toning exercises increasing by 23 and 10 per cent respectively.

“On an average Dubai residents work out for 42 minutes every day,” said Nanda.
