DUBAI Planning a holiday is never easy for pet owners in the UAE. But if you have made proper arrangements, they will be safe and well cared for in your absence.

Pets have specific needs so it’s important that you pick the right pet caretaker and arm them with complete information.

There are several pet boarding centres in the UAE. Dr. Sara Elliott of British Veterinary Hospital said pet owners should do their research before finalising one. “One should look for a place with knowledgable and loving staff, not necessary luxiries,” she advised.

Book early

Lesley Muncey, chairperson, Feline Friends said residents should book early to avoid disappointment.

“Like hotels, the best facilities often get booked first. If your pet is going to a regular place for daycare – then that should be your first choice,” she said.

Before you leave for the summer break, make sure the pet carers have detailed instructions with information about food, supplements, medications, exercise, temperature requirements, feeding and cleaning schedules.
