Osaka, Japan:  A fusion of futuristic storytelling, irresistible Emirati cuisine, and deep cultural connection has made the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, one of the biggest global showstoppers of the year, drawing an astounding 3 million visitors and counting.

The Pavilion team marked the milestone by taking the opportunity to connect with visitors and reflect on the journey so far. Visitors arriving on the day were welcomed with the same warmth and openness that have made the Pavilion a favourite for many.

Shihab Alfaheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, said: “Reaching the three million mark is a huge milestone for the UAE Pavilion. It is a cherished achievement, and speaks to the global resonance of the UAE’s story and our shared aspirations for the future."

"Every visitor who walks through the Pavilion brings their own voice to our collective journey. Together, we are shaping a narrative that crosses borders, embraces diversity, and accelerates progress. With two months remaining, we want more guests to experience our pavilion.”

Designed by the Earth to Ether Design Collective, a consortium of UAE, Japanese and other international partners, the Pavilion has earned widespread praise for its architectural vision, sustainable construction, and powerful storytelling.

Storytelling meets innovation

Opened in April 2025, the Pavilion has quickly become more than just a national showcase. It is a cross-cultural magnet that is redefining how countries connect with the world. Visitors are treated to an experience that travels “from Earth to Ether,” echoing the Pavilion’s immersive theme.

From the moment guests step inside, they are welcomed not just by sleek architecture and sensory design, but also by Youth Ambassadors — young Emiratis and Japanese who bring the UAE story to life through heartfelt conversations, tours, and workshops.

What makes this pavilion stand out? It is not just the 90 palm-inspired columns made from UAE agricultural waste and crafted using Japanese woodworking techniques, or its sustainable construction hailed by critics. It is the seamless storytelling that ties together the UAE’s past, present and future.

Visitors pass through five thematic zones exploring everything from space exploration and healthcare innovation to sustainability and cultural heritage. The message? The UAE is not just dreaming big. It is doing big.

Emirati food takes centre stage

If you are wondering what truly pulls people back for second and third visits, the answer might just be found on a plate.

The first-ever Emirati restaurant in Japan, located inside the Pavilion, has already welcomed over 100,000 visitors eager to taste traditional dishes like lamb ouzi, sweet loqaimat, and the uniquely memorable camel milk, rehash and toasted pistachio drink.

Japanese children and families have also joined summer culinary workshops, learning the art of Emirati pastry-making from young chefs who blend authentic flavours with personal storytelling.

Architecture with a soul

Inspired by the UAE’s date palm tree and the traditional areesh structure, the Pavilion’s design is a bold statement in eco-conscious innovation. By fusing agricultural waste with heritage design and Japanese craftsmanship, it speaks to a shared philosophy of unity through creativity.

It’s not just a space. It is a cultural handshake between nations, crafted with care and rooted in respect.

Culture, conversation and curiosity

Beyond the stunning design and delicious food, the Pavilion is alive with daily programming, from expert talks and live performances to curated exhibits and interactive workshops.

Many visitors don’t stop at one visit. Whether it is a powerful dance performance, a surprise talk on sustainability, or a hands-on art session, there’s always something new to discover. The Pavilion has become a meeting point for curiosity, and a space where strangers become part of a shared journey.

Pavilion with purpose

As Expo 2025 continues until October 13, the UAE Pavilion remains an open invitation to the world, a living embodiment of the UAE’s values of inclusion, innovation, and progress.

The UAE Pavilion, titled Earth to Ether, is located in the Empowering Lives zone at Expo 2025 Osaka, just steps away from the Japanese Pavilion and the Shining Hat exhibition hall. It welcomes visitors daily from 9am to 9pm.
