Dubai: Residents across the UAE will experience rising temperatures today, Thursday, June 12, as the heat gradually builds toward peak summer. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued its daily forecast, indicating a 'fair to partly cloudy' day ahead, with the mercury on an upward trend across all regions. The general outlook is fair, with some clouds expected to form over the eastern parts of the country later today.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of what to expect in your area:

  • Coastal & Island Areas (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah): Temperatures in major coastal cities will be hot, ranging from a low of 40°C to a high of 44°C.

  • Internal Areas (Al Ain and surrounding regions): These regions will experience the most intense heat, with temperatures forecast to soar between 42°C and a sweltering 46°C.

  • Mountainous Regions: Offering some respite, the mountains will see temperatures between 34°C and 39°C.

The rise in temperature is attributed to weak surface pressure systems being accompanied by an extension of an upper-air high-pressure system, a typical condition for stable and hotter weather in the region.

Beyond the heat, residents in coastal areas should prepare for a sticky evening. Humidity is forecast to increase by night and into Friday morning.

Winds will generally be light to moderate, blowing from the southeast to the northwest at speeds of 10–20 km/hr. However, these winds may freshen at times during the day, reaching up to 30 km/hr, which could kick up some dust in open areas.

For those looking to cool off at the beach, conditions are ideal. The sea state is predicted to be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Stay hydrated and plan any outdoor activities for the cooler parts of the day as the UAE settles into the summer heat.
